I The firm

We write first cheques to founders who use AI to do what used to take a company. Then we get out of the way.

We are early-stage only: pre-seed and seed, up to and including the first priced round. We decide in days, on standard terms, and we back founders wherever they are. We are small on purpose. Small means the people you talk to are the people who decide, and nobody has to take you to a Monday meeting.

We do not publish a team page with headshots and adjectives. If you write to us, you will be talking to the people who run the firm within three business days. That is the team page.

II What we believe

Five things we would argue about at dinner.

These are not values on a wall. They are the reasons the firm exists and the reasons it says no.

  1. i.

The cost of building has collapsed. Most capital has not noticed.

One founder with judgement and a model now ships what a funded team shipped three years ago. Rounds, processes and timelines built for the old cost structure are now simply slow.

  2. ii.

Extraordinary people are the only thing that scales.

Markets shift, products pivot, decks are rewritten. The founder who has done outstanding things before and ships daily is the one constant worth paying for.

  3. iii.

Ambition is common. Action is rare.

Everyone has a vision. Very few people shipped something on Tuesday. We back Tuesday.

  4. iv.

    Credentials are a lagging indicator.

A degree tells us what someone did years ago under supervision. A repository, a product or a customer tells us what they do now, alone. We look at the second one.

  5. v.

An investor's speed is a moral question.

Founders live on months of runway. An investor who takes a quarter to say maybe is spending someone else's life. We refuse to.

III The name & the mark

A name, a frame, and a way out.

Honest version: Rutenberg is a family name, not a metaphor. The mark is the metaphor.

The firm is named after the family behind it, and nothing more mysterious than that. There is no founding legend, no nineteenth-century bank, no crest we inherited. It was organised in Wyoming in February 2024 by people who had spent long enough building things to know what a founder needs from a first investor: a fast answer, clean paper and no ceremony.

The mark keeps one idea from our original square logo: the name does not stay inside the frame. A gold hairline frame — the old-money part — and a name that breaks out of it on the right, with a single signal-coral cut marking the exit. That is the whole firm in one drawing: a solid structure, and a founder who refuses to be contained by it.

IV The line

Turning Ambition

into Action.

It has been the firm's line from the first day, and it is a filter as much as a slogan. Ambition is the entry ticket; everyone has it. Action — something shipped, something sold, something fixed by lunch — is what we pay for.

Enough about us.

Tell us about what you built. Five sentences and a link.
